BeamNG.drive is a hyper "realistic driving game" from developer BeamNG that gained popularity for its soft-body physics engine, which makes in-game collisions look and feel as authentic as possible. It features a vast array of vehicles and environments added to the game periodically; it also supports modding, adding more content in-game.

As the game is in Early Access on Steam and is not available for consoles, players interested in getting it on PC hope it supports Mac and Linux. We've investigated and provided the results as to whether BeamNG.drive can be playable on Mac and Linux.

Is BeamNG Playable On Mac And Linux?

The physics-based driving sim game BeamNG.drive is available to play exclusively on PC via Steam. As such, the game is not available to play on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles, so naturally, players were expecting the game to have support on other PC operating systems (OS) like MacOS and Linux.

As the game is currently being supported for Windows OS, BeamNG.drive does not run natively for MacOS and Linux. However, there is a workaround to get BeamNG.drive running on Mac, but it does require plenty of PC resources, including various applications and settings that need to be toggled.

While we are not promoting the use of workarounds and third-party applications that may destroy the game's integrity, we advise caution when attempting to get the game running on MacOS. There are two applications that can be installed on your Mac that can help players run Windows-supported applications and games, like BeamNG.drive.

Nevertheless, once the application has been installed, players must have Steam installed on their Mac device and have the game purchased. Before installing, double-check the Properties setting within Steam to check the DirectX compatibility being set from the Betas tab before installing BeamNG.drive, which hopefully should function, but with some technical issues.

It's worth mentioning that due to the Mac's default CPU, which is based on the x86 instruction set, this will rule out multiple Mac CPU processors. Additionally, specific Mac models have low PC requirements compared to Windows OS PCs, so they can't meet the minimum PC requirements to run the game natively.
