EA FC 24: Can PS4 And PS5 Users Play Together?

Not everyone has made the upgrade from PS4 to PS5 just yet, with many new titles still launching on the last-gen console. Those looking to grab EA FC 24, the new football game from EA in the wake of the studio's FIFA departure, might be hoping to do so on the PS4. So, is it possible? Can PS4 players join matches with PS5 players in EA FC 24?

Previous FIFA games, namely FIFA 23, allowed PS4 players to play FIFA 23 with their friends on PS5, but it wasn't as simple as integrated cross-play. In fact, PS5 players had to purchase/install a PS4 version of the game in order to play with PS4 users. So, now that we're looking ahead to what EA FC 24 will bring to the table, will players on different generation consoles be able to play together?

Can PS4 Users Play EA FC 24 With PS5 Users?

In short, no. PS4 users cannot play EA FC 24 alongside PS5 users. Despite the game coming to both current and last-gen consoles and systems, PS4 players will not be able to join matches with their PS5 friends. Cross-play will still be possible, however, between PS4 players and Xbox One players.

In FIFA 23, on PS5 were able to purchase/download a PS4 version of the EA FC 24 to play with their friends on the last-gen console. It's currently unclear if that will be possible this time around, but it is likely.

Can PlayStation Users Play EA FC 24 With Xbox Users?

Yes, EA has confirmed that PlayStation users will be able to play EA FC 24 with Xbox users thanks to cross-play support. However, it'll only be possible with consoles of the same generation:

  • PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players (and PC) are able to play together.
  • PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players are able to play together.

Cross-play is supported across a variety of modes within EA FC 24, including: 

  • Clubs
  • Co-Op Season
  • VOLTA FOOTBALL (Arcade, Squads)
  • Ultimate Team Co-Op (Squad Battles, Rivals, Friendlies)
  • Ultimate Team (Rivals, Champions, Online Draft, Online Friendlies, Play a Friend)
  • Online Friendlies
  • Online Seasons 

Can PlayStation Users Play EA FC 24 With Nintendo Switch Users?

Sadly, Nintendo Switch players are excluded from any cross-play. This means that PlayStation players, be it on PS4 or PS5, cannot play EA FC 24 with Nintendo Switch players. The handheld console will also be unable to match up and play with Xbox or PC users.
