Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree has been officially announced, with a launch date set for June 20, 2024, across all platforms. In the new DLC, players will delve into the Land of Shadow, following in the footsteps of Miquella to uncover the darker aspects of the story.

Upon the DLC's release, players will encounter numerous mysteries awaiting discovery. However, in an interview with IGN, Miyazaki, the director of Elden Ring, revealed that the FromSoftware team dislikes the term "Soulslike", which is commonly used by the community to classify the game's genre.

Instead, Miyazaki prefers to refer to it as "Souls-ish" or, even more accurately, as "those dark fantasy third-person action games with a higher focus on melee combat and sense of accomplishment." While he acknowledges that these terms may not be as catchy as "Soulslike," Miyazaki believes they more accurately capture the game's genre.
