All of the waiting is finally paying off as we have confirmation that Rockstar will soon announce their next Grand Theft Auto Game. More than likely, that game will be named Grand Theft Auto 6. This is after months of rumors and teasers that have been circulating the internet for quite some time now.

In no time at all, we will get an official trailer for GTA 6 which is very exciting for fans. We have gotten a new Grand Theft Auto game in over 10 years now. With this announcement, many questions are starting to pop up. One of them being will GTA 6 be a direct sequel to GTA 5? Keep reading and we'll do our best to explain how it all fits together.

Is GTA 6 A Direct Sequel To GTA 5?

The answer to the question "Will GTA 6 be a direct sequel to GTA 5" is likely to be a little bit of 'yes' and a little bit of 'no'. The fact of the matter is that most new GTA games take place after the previous game. However, they are more than often not direct sequels. This is so players can jump into the GTA series at any time. That means the story from GTA 6 will very likely not be affected at all by what happened in GTA 5.

What we will likely see in GTA 6 is a completely original story with new characters. We already know there are new original characters in GTA 6 thanks to the numerous leaks that have happened. We have seen no proof of GTA 5 characters making their way to GTA 6. But that could very well change once the game launches.

Will GTA 5 Characters Be In GTA 6?

There is a strong chance that GTA 5 characters will make it to GTA 6. It might not be the main cast like Trevor or Franklin, but it could be any of the side characters that lived at the end of the game. Sometimes, Rockstar likes to pull from a cast of characters from their previous games into the latest iteration of Grand Theft Auto.

There is even a chance that a character like Trevor will come to GTA 6 as some sort of antagonist this time around. The possibilities are wide open. Unless Rockstar is setting up GTA 6 to be in the past, it is likely that GTA 6 will feature some GTA 5 characters. For the time being though, we just do not know who those characters will be.
