Lockpicks are a useful tool in The Outlast Trials, allowing you to open up locks on various containers such as medical kits and toolkits. Without lockpicks, you won't be able to access most of the useful resources in the game that are hidden behind tricky locks. However, they aren't the easiest item in the game to find. Here's how to get lockpicks in The Outlast Trials.

How To Get Lockpicks

To get a Lockpick in the Outlast Trials, there unfortunately isn't anything you can really do aside from look out for them. Lockpicks can be found scattered throughout the map - on tables, next to locks themselves, on counters - so you'll really want to look thoroughly in every potential spot if you want to find one. Once you approach it, just pick it up to add it to your inventory.

Once you have a lockpick, you can use it on any lock of your choice. Just approach the lock and you'll get a prompt asking if you'd like to use the lockpick. When you select it, you'll have to complete a quick-time event; make sure you do your best to win, since failing can have consequences like the loss of your health.

How To Get Master Key In The Outlast Trials

While lockpicks are useful in The Outlast Trials, there's something even better - a Master Key. Master Keys can only be found in select co-op trials. However, they can open absolutely any lock, and you can re-use them. Having A Master Key means you won't need to look out for lockpicks anymore at all, so it's definitely worth trying to get one if you can.

To get the Master Key, you'll need to be in a co-op trial and go to one of the Secret Rooms. These are marked by the two blue buttons outside. After entering, players can find a variety of treasures - and one of them may be the Master Key, although loot differs in each individual trial.

Overall, there's no real strategy to finding lockpicks, but finding the Master Key is a little more reliable since you can't find it anywhere else aside from in a co-op Secret Room. While the Master Key is easier to find once you find a Secret Room, lockpicks are far more abundant, so you may want to get used to looking for them in each trial.
