How to catch Ditto in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

If you’re looking to breed Pokémon or just want to use one of the franchise’s most gimmicky creatures, then Ditto is your 'mon. Ditto is one of the most well-known Pokémon in existence and is extremely popular with fans, mainly because of their ability to breed with any other Pokémon. However, in the early going of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, fans are finding it difficult to find the purple blob. 

Ditto is not a part of the initial Sinnoh Pokédex that’s complete with only 151 Pokémon. Because of this, players are unsure if they can catch Ditto before the post-game or if they’ll have to wait until they’ve beaten either Pokémon Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl. Below, players can find the answers they’re looking for when it comes to Ditto. 

Catching Ditto in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

Unfortunately, for players who want a Ditto quickly, you’ll have to wait until you acquire the National Dex to catch Ditto. This means you have to beat the game and see all 151 Pokémon in the Sinnoh Pokédex. 

Once you have the National Dex, which is acquired from Professor Rowan/Oak, you can go about catching Ditto. The first location to catch Ditto is on Route 218 using the PokéRadar. By using this Pokétch app, you can pinpoint where Pokémon is by going into the grass and waiting for spots to shake. Ditto’s encounter rate in this area is 20%, so this is a great way to catch the Pokémon. 

The second way to catch Ditto is by heading underground and going to Dazzling Cave or Stargleam Cavern. You have to find these areas by yourself in the Grand Underground, but it doesn’t take long if you’re searching enough. Once you find one of the caves, head in and see if Ditto spawns in. If it doesn’t, exit and then re-enter as many times as you need until Ditto spawns. 

These are the simplest ways of catching Ditto in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Once you’ve added the Pokémon to your party, you can breed it with any other Pokémon in the game using the Day Care.
