After several weeks of stiff competition, a new season of GO Battle League is coming to Niantic's mobile game, Pokémon GO.

Before we begin with this look at the new season, it should be noted that the rewards of Season 6 will be distributed as soon as it ends on 1st March, which will include an Elite Fast TM when reaching rank 19 or more in this.

Now, let's see everything that Niantic has prepared for Season 7 of the GO Battle League.

Niantic has begun by confirming that the power format will remain the same as that of Season 6, thereby defining the level of Pokémon that can be used in each League in this way:

  • Great League: Pokémon up to 1,500 CP
  • Ultra League: Pokémon up to 2,500 CP
  • Master League: Pokémon with no CP limit
  • Premier Cup: Pokémon up to 2,500 CP, with limited selection according to the season
  • Master League Classic: Pokémon with no CP limit, but only Pokémon that haven't been powered up with Candy XL are allowed

Within the exclusive competitions will be the following:

  • Great League Remix: Pokémon up to 1,500 CP, but the 10 most-used Pokémon in the Great League are not allowed
  • Retro Cup: Pokémon up to 1,500 CP, but Dark, Steel, and Fairy-type Pokémon are not allowed
  • Kanto Cup: Pokémon up to 1,500 CP, but only Pokémon with a Pokédex number from # 001 to # 151 are allowed

Moving on to the dates of each one, the calendar will be divided as follows:

  • 1-15th March: Great League
  • 15-29th March: Ultra League and Premier Cup
  • 29th March - 5th April: Master League, Master League Classic, and Great League
  • 5-12th April: Great League, Ultra League, and Master League
  • 12-26th April: Great League, and Great League Remix
  • 26th April - 10th May: Ultra League and Premier Cup
  • 10-17th May: Master League, Master League Classic, and Retro Cup
  • 17-24th May: Great League, Ultra League, and Master League
  • 24-31th May: Kanto Cup (unranked)

Ranked play will end on the 24th of May, at 1 pm PDT (GMT −7).

Finally, each rank you achieve within Season 7 will allow you to get different types of rewards, all based on Elesa, Unova's Electric-type gym leader:

  • Rank 1: Guaranteed encounter with Zebstrika, and also guaranteed encounter with Poliwhirl, Flaaffy, Pupitar, Galvantula, and more
  • Rank 10: Pikachu Libre avatar items, and guaranteed encounter with Medicham, Frillish, Stunfisk, and more
  • Rank 15: Guaranteed encounter with Scraggy, Lampent, and Rufflet, with the chance of finding a Shiny Rufflet
  • Rank 19: Elite Charged TM, and an Elite Fast TM as an end-of-season reward
  • Rank 20: Guaranteed encounter with the Legendary Pokémon that is appearing in five-star raids at that time
  • Ace Rank: Guaranteed encounter with Deino
  • Legend Rank: Avatar items and a pose inspired by Elesa, and guaranteed encounter with Pikachu Libre

Also, it will be possible to get more Candy XL than normal when you catch these Pokémon in GO Battle League reward encounters:

  • Poliwhirl
  • Flaaffy
  • Pupitar
  • Medicham
  • Scraggy
  • Galvantula
  • Lampent
  • Stunfisk

Finally, Niantic has confirmed that unlike Season 6, it will no longer be necessary to meet the previous walking requirement to unlock battles in the GO Battle League.

More GO Battle League Season 7 competitions will be announced during the second half of the season.
