Lords of the Fallen Vestiges Functions Explained: How They Work

Traversing the challenging land of Mournstead in Lords of the Fallen is no simple feat, and it's essential to find shelter periodically to rest and prepare yourself for the impending battles. Fortunately, the game incorporates a feature reminiscent of the "bonfires" in the Soulsborne games, known as Vestiges.

These significant landmarks not only provide a place to rest and mend your wounds but also offer additional functionalities. To achieve success in the game, it's crucial to understand all of their uses. In this comprehensive guide, we will thoroughly explain how Vestiges operate in Lords of the Fallen.

How Do Vestiges Work in Lords of the Fallen?

If you're familiar with the Souls-Borne series of games, you're likely acquainted with the iconic bonfires featured in those games. Bonfires serve as safe havens or checkpoints where you can rest to recover your health and use them for fast travel to others you've discovered in the game world. In Lords of the Fallen, Vestiges function similarly but offer a more extensive range of capabilities beyond being rest spots and travel points.

Vestiges in Lords of the Fallen provide players with the ability to level up their character, recover their Sanguinarix, enhance their weapons, refill their Umbral Lamp charge, and even summon other online players to cooperate with or invade to engage in player-versus-player combat. Additionally, Vestiges offer an escape route from Umbral, as the longer you remain in that realm, the stronger the pursuing enemies become due to the Dread meter. Often, it's more prudent to retreat to a known Vestige location rather than venture into uncharted territory searching for an Emergence Effigy.

Furthermore, Vestiges allow you to teleport between them right from the beginning of the game. This means that areas you've previously explored and wish to revisit are just a few button presses away. It also simplifies the setup of farming routes if you require more Vigor to level up or improve your weaponry. Additionally, players can plant their Vestiges in the form of Vestige Seedlings, for more details on this aspect, please refer to the linked article.

Ultimately, the usefulness of Vestiges depends on how you utilize them. Understanding when and how to return to a Vestige for farming, leveling up, engaging in cooperative or player-versus-player gameplay, and as an escape from Umbral will greatly enhance your journey in Lords of the Fallen.
