While the VCT off-season featured some interesting tournaments, players are waiting to see the partnered and promoted Ascension teams in action at the first VCT 2024 event, the Kickoff Tournament. The competition has gotten more interesting this year with the addition of China as a separate League.

Not only the Kickoff Tournament will kickstart the season, but it will also be a path for Masters Madrid and Champions qualification. Find out everything about the VCT 2024 Kickoff Tournament below.

Dates

Here are the starting dates of Kickoff Tournaments across all regions:

  • VCT Americas - February 16
  • VCT Pacific - February 17
  • VCT EMEA - February 20
  • VCT China - February 22 

Teams

There will be a separate Kickoff Tournament for each region, and here is the list of all the teams participating in it:

Format

Group Stage

The Group Stage of the Kickoff Tournament will follow a double-elimination format, and 11 teams will be divided into three groups based on their 2023 performance. Two of these groups will have two teams, and the third group will feature three teams.

The highest-placed team of the region in Champions 2023 will be assigned the third group, and they will go directly to the second round. The winner of each group will proceed to the Playoff Stage, and the second-place team will enter the Play-In Stage.

Play-In Stage

In this stage, the second-place team from each group will compete in a round-robin format, and the winner of this stage will go to the Playoff Stage. 

Playoff Stage

Unlike the group stage, the Playoff will follow a single elimination format, and the two teams reaching the Grand Final will qualify for Masters Madrid. 

The team qualifying from the Play-In Stage will be up against the other from its group, and the winner of the Kickoff will get preferential seeding at Masters Madrid and 3 Championship points for qualification in Champions 2024.
