In the final stretch of the year, Avatar Frontiers of Pandora is about to launch. The game officially launches on December 7 and the reviewers have said that it is a pretty decent game. It is not in the running for Game of the Year, but those who pick it up should have a good time with it.

That is of course, if they have an internet connection. There are a lot of games that launch needing a day-one patch and Avatar is one of them. And from the looks of it, this patch is required before anyone can play the game.

In the FAQ for Avatar Frontiers of Pandora, the developers clearly state that the game will require a Day 1 patch. That means even if players purchase a physical copy of the game, they absolutely must patch the game by connecting to the internet before they play it.

The details of the patch were not given in the FAQ but it is very likely a performance patch like we have seen with other games. Once that patch is downloaded, Avatar can then be played offline. This means that Avatar needs to connect to the internet at least one time before it can be played, even for physical copies.
