ESL Pro League Season 7 Finals: Preview and updates

The ESL Pro League Season 7 Finals take place this week, with the world's 16 best CS:GO teams looking to win their share of the $750,000 prize pool. The event, which will take place in Dallas, Texas, is the final part of this season's ESL Pro League, a regional online tournament that started in September. Teams from both North America and Europe will battle it out to prove themselves on the world stage.

Astralis and FaZe very much the teams to beat

Last season saw Brazilian powerhouse SK Gaming beating FaZe Clan in the Grand Final. Those two teams both feature this time round, but it would be a major surprise if SK can successfully defend their title. FaZe's chances look a great deal better, especially since they just won IEM Sydney in dominant fashion. Astralis are another team tipped for success. The Danish outfit were FaZe's opponent's in Sydney's final, and though they didn't come out on top that time, they are still most people's favourites for this event. Astralis have been posting good, consistent results for a while now, and recently took an impressive first place at Dreamhack Marseille.

The format

[table id=7 /] The teams will compete in groups following a GSL format, with initial best-of-one encounters followed by best-of-three winners and losers series. Three teams will emerge from each of these groups to compete in the knockout stages of the event, with the group winners seeded into the semi-finals, while second and third places start off in the quarters.
