The International 2023 - How To Watch, Schedule, Teams & More

The International (TI) is the final tournament in every DPC (Dota Pro Circuit) Season and has historically been a spotlight event on the esports calendar in 2023. Hosted by Valve, the game's developer, the tournament features a prize pool of over $20 million, making it one of the world's largest and most prestigious esports events.

More specifically, The International Championship is a culmination of the DPC tours and Majors held throughout the year that determines the team most worthy to wield the prestigious Aegis of Champions. With the new Dota DPC Season in full swing, many fans are eager to learn more about The International 2023, including how to watch, schedule, teams, and more.

Update on 4 March 2023: We checked for new updates regarding The International 2023. We'll continue to amend this guide with any changes.

When Does The International 2023 Start?

At the time of writing, Valve has not revealed exactly when The International 2023 will take place. However, based on the previous two events, we can speculate that it should begin sometime in early October 2023. Therefore, for the sake of prosperity, we've used a tentative start date of 14 October 2023 for our countdown timer below (we'll update it once a date has been confirmed).

All Teams Competing At Dota 2 The International 2023

The International 2023 will host the top teams with the most points in the Dota Pro Circuit. Last year, Valve hosted 30 world-class teams, including ten runner-up teams from the Regional Qualifiers competing in the Dota 2 Last Chance Qualifier. There's currently no reason why Valve won't repeat this format.

In this regard, The International 2023 Group Stage will likely see the top 12 teams in the DPC receiving direct invitations, with the remaining eight teams comprising those from each of the six Regional Qualifiers and the Last Chance Qualifier. Here are all the confirmed teams competing at Dota 2 The International 2023 this year:

Dota 2 The International 2023 - Schedule & Format

Valve has not revealed the official schedule and format for The International 2023. Still, we can speculate that this year's tournament will likely mimic the preceding championships. That said, Valve will presumably start with a Group Stage, dividing twenty teams into two groups of ten teams each, playing matches in a round-robin format.

All games will be played as a BO2, with the top four teams of each group advancing to the Upper Bracket of The International 2023 Main Event. These teams can also pick their first opponent for the Playoffs. After that, the bottom two teams from each group will be eliminated from the event, and the remaining squads will qualify for the Lower Bracket.

The Main Event of The International 2023 will feature 16 teams playing in a double-elimination bracket, split equally into a Lower and Upper Bracket. All matches in the Main Event will be played as a BO3, excluding two series of games. The first match in the Lower Bracket will be played as a BO1, and Grand Finals will have a five-match series as usual.
