Genshin Impact players are quite divided over the 4-star claymore weapon, Serpent Spine. On the one hand, its CRIT-focused stats makes it more powerful than Wolf’s Gravestone. Other players believe they shouldn’t have to spend money on acquiring it, preferring Wolf's Gravestone.

Either way, this 4-star claymore weapon, the Serpent Spine, can only be acquired one way. Here’s what players need to know about this 4-star weapon, its stats, ascension materials and how one can acquire the weapon.

Genshin Impact: What is the Serpent Spine?

Birthed in the Liyue region, the Serpent Spine is fashioned from the spine of a sea monster. According to lore, fishermen would frequently use the remains of sea monsters as figureheads for their boats.

As such, a great captain had set sail with his men out onto the stormy seas and never returned. Yet, the body of a giant sea monster merged onshore with its spine bulging from its due to a large gash made by the captain’s sword.

Genshin Impact: Serpent Spine stats & ability

  • Rarity: 4-star
  • ATK: 42-510
  • Secondary Stat: 6% – 27.6% Crit Rate

The weapon's passive (Special Ability), Wavesplitter, deals 6% more DMG for every four seconds the character is on the field. As a result, they will receive 3% extra DMG. The Wavesplitter passive has five stacks maximum and it cannot be reset once the character returns to the party. However, the passive does lose one stack when taking DMG.

As the passive’s stack decreases every time a character receives DMG, this weapon would be effective for characters that utilise a shield. The Serpent Spine is best equipped on Noelle, Chonygyun, Razor, Beidou and Xinyan.
