PUBG Mobile is getting a city-based league in the US

Partnering with Chinese game developer Tencent, the two companies will create local esports competitions for the popular battle royale shooter PUBG Mobile platform, along with social play events.
Alongside the unveiling of the PUBG Mobile North American Super League 2019-20 on Friday, Super League Gaming also announced details for an upcoming PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Mobile North American Super League.

Super League Gaming stated the city-based system for the league will be the first of its kind for PUBG Mobile esports and will take place in 16 cities across the United States, including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle, Tampa Bay, and Washington, D.C.

The partnership also calls for live stream competitions and original video content centered around the new leagues and will be produced by the two companies.

Though details are sparse, the PUBG Mobile North American Super League will feature a quarterly City Champs tournament and community social nights starting in December, while the newly announced amateur events are scheduled to being in September of 2020.

The announcement comes a day after OnePlus Mobile, the Shenzhen-based Chinese smartphone manufacturer who also competes in nine esports titles, announced that they will be the official hardware sponsor for the upcoming Super League 2019-2020 PUBG Mobile Tournament season.

According to Super League Gaming’s official website, the tournaments will be held at Dave & Buster's locations in the previously mentioned cities and participants will receive exclusive branded merchandise and the chance to complete in special challenges. Top players from each respective city will represent their hometown at the city championship, which will be live-streamed on Super League and PUBG Mobile’s respective Twitch channels.

Players competing in the competitive social event will have the chance to be selected as “Player of the Month” and receive a OnePlus Pro Kit.
