As more sports athletes dwell in the world of streaming, important esports organizations have taken the opportunity to enroll a few into their ranks, with Javier "Chicharito" Hernández joining Complexity being the latest example.

The Mexican striker, primarily known in the world of football for his time in the Premier League with Manchester United and his World Cup appearances with the Mexican national team, revealed on 20th April his new venture by signing with Complexity under their Stars division.

Complexity Stars is a special division within the esports org, focused on partnering with professional athletes and celebrities. They've already signed players from some of North America's most important sporting leagues, including NFL's Leonard Fournette and MLB's Edwin Rios.

Undoubtedly the biggest player to join Complexity Stars is Chicharito Hernández. A football icon that's followed by almost 9 million people on Twitter and 670k on Twitch, the Mexican sensation has become a consistent Warzone content creator.

At 33 years of age, the golden years of Hernández as a professional footballer are a thing of the past, and despite remaining an important figure for LA Galaxy in Major League Soccer, the former Manchester United, Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, West Ham, and Sevilla player seems to be planting the seed for his next career move after retirement.

“Gaming has always been a passion of mine, and by signing with Complexity Stars, I’ll be able to create content and host events to better engage with my fans off the pitch,” Chicharito mentioned in his formal introduction as a member of Complexity via a YouTube video.

With a massive social media reach and able to tap into two huge markets such as English and Spanish-speaking audiences, Chicharito is poised to elevate the Complexity Stars brand tenfold.

This does not mean Chicharito's current commitments with LA Galaxy will take a backseat, with the striker remaining an important piece of the Los Angeles squad, performing at such a high level, that Mexican fans are clamoring for his return to the national team ahead of the 2022 World Cup.

According to Complexity, over 30% of its total fanbase are Spanish-speakers, making Hernández a key signing in their quest for growth outside English-centric markets.

Chicharito is far from the only football star that's dabbled in streaming and esports. The most successful case is Sergio "Kun" Agüero's flourishing Twitch career.

The now-retired striker has almost 4 million Twitch followers and is the CEO of KRÜ, an important esports org based in South America, known for their Valorant squad that reached the semifinals of Valorant Champions last year.
