Legendary Far Cry 3 villain Vass is possibly coming back

Michael Mando, Far Cry 3’s Vaas Montenegro actor, teases a return to the character in his recent Reddit AMA.
Legendary Far Cry 3 villain Vass is possibly coming back

Far Cry games are known for their complex and psychopathic villains.  One could say that they are the main characters of Far Cry games, and whenever a  new Far Cry game is announced, fans are always interested in finding out first who the main villain is: how does he look, what are his personality traits, what's his role in the story, and of course - how insane is he?

Out of all Far Cry villains, one of the most memorable is Vaas Montenegro from Far Cry 3. And he wasn't even a main antagonist of the game, that was Hoyt Volker. Still, Vas was the first one we met in the game, where he immediately leaves a strong impression on you, and from that moment you simply never forget him.

Michael Mando, the actor behind Vaas Montenegro, had a very important part in creating the character. When Michael went to audition for Ubisoft, Vaas did not actually exist. He originally auditioned for the character "Lupo" with features very similar to Vaas, but decided to do a different take of insanity on the written persona, and didn't get the part. However, Ubisoft was so impressed by his performance that they decided to scrap "Lupo" altogether and give Mando the role of Vaas.

And that's how we got one of the most memorable villains in the history of video games. Mando did a really great job with performing this role, both as a voice actor and for motion capture. His Far Cry 3 performance is undoubtedly one of the highlights of his career.

He recently had AMA session on Reddit, where he talked about various thing from his both personal and professional life. And while the focus of AMA was mostly on his role as Nacho from Better Call Saul, the most upvoted question was about Vass and if he's still being recognized as him, given that he lent his likeliness to the character.

Mando answered: "Thank you so much! Vaas is my spirit animal - having co-created that character is something that will always be dear to me. I still get recognized as Vaas, and I still feel the outpouring of love for that character - makes me very happy. Who knows... maybe I will reprise the role very soon? :p Thank you for watching xo."

So, did he just revealed that some new Far Cry game with Vass is in the works? Or is he just teasing fans and joking with us? SPOILER ALERT: Vass Montenegro dies in Far Cry 3, but maybe we could get some kind of origin story, a prequel with Vass as the protagonist, to find out more about him? That could be something really cool if done properly. Vas is a complex character with so many layers on him, and his origin story could shed some more light on him, and there's a lot of space to explore here in terms of storytelling.

What do you think? Is Mando just joking or we could actually see Vass again?
