{"id":10475,"date":"2020-12-03T00:21:10","date_gmt":"2020-12-03T00:21:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/facebook-gaming-launches-hanging-out"},"modified":"2024-07-20T07:17:06","modified_gmt":"2024-07-20T07:17:06","slug":"facebook-gaming-launches-hanging-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/streams\/facebook-gaming-launches-hanging-out","title":{"rendered":"Facebook Gaming launches &#8220;Hanging Out&#8221; for IRL streaming"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Facebook is launching the &#8220;Hanging Out&#8221; section for its streaming platform Facebook Gaming, the company has announced.<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, &ldquo;Just Chatting&rdquo; has been one of the fastest-growing categories on Twitch, and these days when you open Twitch, you will more often than not see &ldquo;Just Chatting&rdquo; being the most-watched category.<\/p>\n<p>Facebook is clearly seeing the popularity of the IRL (in-real-life) streaming and is trying to bring the same concept to their streaming platform.<\/p>\n<p>Facebook describes &#8220;Hanging Out&#8221; as a streaming category with a focus on a conversation over gameplay.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You can think of &lsquo;Hanging Out&rsquo; as an IRL section for gaming creators, where the focus is still gaming, but their content explores a broad range of formats beyond their gameplay, ranging from art to podcasts and everything in between,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/fbgaminghome\/blog\/hanging-out-comes-to-facebook-gaming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">reads the announcement.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We can more or less expect to see the same activities from content creators as we are seeing under the &#8220;Just Chatting&#8221; category on Twitch.<\/p>\n<p>From chatting and podcasts to creative streams where content creators are painting, sculpting, cooking, making music and doing other creative activities.<\/p>\n<p>And of course, things like vlogs from travelling and broadcasting various outside activities.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Read more: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/streams\/facebook-gaming-introduces-approved-music-list-to-help-streamers-stay-on-right-side-of-drm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook Gaming deal with major record labels will be music to the ears of creators<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Still, Facebook warns content creators that they will not have absolute freedom to stream whatever they like in this category.<\/p>\n<p>Things like sleeping, watching movies, or live streaming pets won&#8217;t be allowed. Live streaming an event without direct commentary to the camera won&#8217;t be allowed as well.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-cf.ginx.tv\/imgcdn\/XliuQTOUTkgC9u3qO3lsBmbrAUudHdnrnb-WKQ-mIfE\/rs:fill:0:0:1\/g:ce\/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ2lueC50di91cGxvYWRzL05ld0ZvbGRlci9GYWNlYm9va19HYW1pbmdfSGFuZ2luZ19PdXRfZW1wdHkuUE5H\" alt=\"Facebook Gaming Hanging Out empty\" width=\"1024\" height=\"534\" loading=\"lazy\"><br \/><span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">It seems that &#8220;Hanging Out&#8221; is currently not particularly interesting for Facebook content creators(Picture: Facebook)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/gaming\/hangingout\/live\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">&#8220;Hanging Out&#8221;<\/a> section is already available, but it seems that the platform&#8217;s content creators aren&#8217;t yet interested for IRL streaming, because there&#8217;s not a single stream active in the category at the time of writing this article.<\/p>\n<p>This is yet another move in the company&#8217;s ongoing efforts to expand its streaming platform. When <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/twitch\/ninja-and-shroud-are-free-to-return-to-twitch-after-mixer-joins-facebook-gaming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mixer merged with Facebook Gaming<\/a>, Facebook reportedly offered double the value of Ninja&#8217;s and Shroud&#8217;s contracts, but both streamers refused this proposition.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Facebook is launching the &#8220;Hanging Out&#8221; section for its streaming platform Facebook Gaming, the company has announced.
