It is set to be quite a day. Eight teams, two regions, and frankly if we had the manpower it would be even more, but the focus for us today is Europe and North America. Will G2 prove, once again, to be the crème de la crème of Europe? Will the Sentinels sweep all before them in NA?<\/div>\n

You gotta hand it to Riot Games, 2020 has not been the year to launch a brand new game and esport, but they have done it with aplomb with Valorant well and truly living up to the hype on the gameplay front and creating an audience of eager players and fans invested in its competitive scene.<\/p>\n

Esport organisations have too responded in kind with just about every major organisation the world over now fielding a team. In some cases, such as with Cloud9<\/a>, two.<\/p>\n

After the initial Ignition Series offering<\/a>, where Riot Games took a hands-off approach to tournament organizing, we have had the First Strike series of tournaments. Regionally focused (damn pandemic) and entirely open qualifiers, Valorant First Strike, despite all the hurdles, has been a premier esport tournament by every measure.<\/p>\n
