In October 2020, Cloud9 completed their new CS:GO roster, dubbed as The Colussus. At the time, Cloud9 opened their wallet to create this all-star team, with, for example, the signing of Danish star Patrick “es3tag” Hansen<\/a> with a three-year contract worth 2,100,000 USD.<\/p>\n

Now, Cloud9 has to look for a fifth player, as the organization has decided to release Turkish AWPer Özgür “woxic” Eker.<\/p>\n

Cloud9 releases Woxic<\/h2>\n

Last year, Cloud9 picked up Woxic from mousesports with a three-year deal worth over 1.3 million USD. Since then, Woxic has only played 24 maps for The Colussus. <\/p>\n

Woxic’s final match for Cloud9’s all-star CS:GO squad took place on 16th December 2020, where the team lost in a devasting defeat against ForZe in the MIDNITE 9 to 7 tournament. <\/p>\n

Taking to Twitter<\/a>, Cloud9’s General Manager for CS:GO,  Henry “⁠HenryG⁠” Greer, announced Woxic’s contract has been terminated, as the organization parts ways with the Turkish star.<\/p>\n

According to the statement by HenryG, this was a mutual decision made by the team and Woxic, explaining the player suffers from “unreliable high ping” due to him living in a “compromising time zone”.<\/p>\n

This all created a “demotivating period” for Woxic, which in turn resulted in the player being benched and then released from the squad.<\/p>\n

HenryG explained: “We approached with many resolutions to these problems but unfortunately the logistics of overcoming them were almost insurmountable. <\/p>\n
