Netflix has announced a new Tomb Raider animated series, set after events from the recent reboot trilogy.

The series is being developed by Legendary, which will follow Lara Croft after events in 2018’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider from Eidos Montreal and Square Enix.

There’s no word yet on when the series will release on Netflix, although considering its animation, at least it won’t (presumably) be subject to COVID-19 related delays.

There’s also a live-action movie adaptation on the far horizon, in Tomb Raider 2 starring Alicia Vikander. That film was originally set to be directed by Ben Wheatley, but it was recently announced Lovecraft Country showrunner Misha Green will now take the reins.

Netflix is doubling down significantly on video game adaptations, with a Resident Evil and Splinter Cell animated series in the pipeline too.
