{"id":13874,"date":"2021-03-18T12:55:57","date_gmt":"2021-03-18T12:55:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/sony-unveils-ps5-vr-controllers-with-adaptive-triggers"},"modified":"2024-07-19T07:38:29","modified_gmt":"2024-07-19T07:38:29","slug":"sony-unveils-ps5-vr-controllers-with-adaptive-triggers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/sony-unveils-ps5-vr-controllers-with-adaptive-triggers","title":{"rendered":"Sony unveils PS5 VR controllers with adaptive triggers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sony has revealed new VR controllers for the PlayStation 5, featuring adaptive triggers and haptic feedback.<\/p>\n<p>The company previously announced a PS5 VR device was in the works last month, and now they&rsquo;ve given a first glimpse at the new controllers.<\/p>\n<p>As shown on the <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.playstation.com\/2021\/03\/18\/next-gen-vr-on-ps5-the-new-controller\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">PlayStation blog<\/a>, the new orb style is reminiscent of other VR controllers on the market. The left controller has an analogue stick, the triangle and square buttons, a grip button (L1), trigger button (L2) and Create button. The right controller features essentially the reverse, with an analogue stick, the cross and circle buttons, a grip button (R1), trigger button (R2) and Options button.<\/p>\n<p>These controllers however carry over features from the PS5 DualSense, including adaptive triggers and haptic feedback which help you &lsquo;feel&rsquo; certain actions within the environment &mdash; best showcased by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/video-games\/ginx-tv-top-20-best-games-2020\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Astro&rsquo;s Playroom<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Read more: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/video-games\/25-games-we-cant-wait-for-2021-halo-infinite-ratchet-and-clank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">25 games we can&rsquo;t wait for in 2021: Halo Infinite to Ratchet and Clank<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-cf.ginx.tv\/imgcdn\/8TCWGwNEsK47UUhrlU_ZswcPXpQJyArQJZQDXiVan9s\/rs:fill:0:0:1\/g:ce\/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ2lueC50di91cGxvYWRzL1BTNV9WUl9tYWluLmpwZw\" alt=\"PS5_VR_main\" width=\"1024\" height=\"525\" loading=\"lazy\"><br \/><span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">Well, it&#8217;s better than PlayStation Move wands (Picture: Sony)&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>There&rsquo;s also finger touch detection which enable &ldquo;more natural gestures&rdquo; with your hands, while the VR controller is tracked by the headset through a tracking ring across the bottom of the controller.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The blog post reads: &ldquo;Prototypes of our new VR controller will be in the hands of the development community soon, and we can&rsquo;t wait to see what ideas they come up with and how the controller helps bring their imagination to life.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-cf.ginx.tv\/imgcdn\/3SPzPyZXZwXeKCkVCoOgwo148j06wjExjKS5Yt9atT4\/rs:fill:0:0:1\/g:ce\/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ2lueC50di91cGxvYWRzL3BzNV92cl9jb250cm9sbGVyc18zLmpwZw\" alt=\"ps5_vr_controllers_3\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" loading=\"lazy\"><br \/><span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(Picture: Sony)<\/span>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The design is certainly a huge step-up from the PlayStation Move wand controllers, which were one of the main setbacks for PS VR. With the addition of DualSense features too, this could give Sony a unique edge over the competition, if the price isn&#8217;t too steep.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Sony hasn&rsquo;t given a release date for PS5&#8217;s VR headset, although judging by their wording, it most likely won&rsquo;t arrive in 2021.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sony has revealed new VR controllers for the PlayStation 5, featuring adaptive triggers and haptic feedback.
