Amid the ongoing pandemic complexities, Blizzard has announced the cancellation of its most anticipated yearly event, BlizzCon 2021, which means BlizzCon has now been cancelled<\/a> two years in a row. Each year during November, the event is generally held at the Anaheim Convention Center in California. However, considering the current scenario and to comply with the guidelines of in-person gathering in California, Blizzard had to take this decision.<\/p>\n

According to the BlizzCon Executive Producer, Saralyn Smith, it takes months of preparation to host a grand and complex event like BlizzCon. Not only the time preparation is needed for Blizzard itself, but the case is the same for many talented production partners, esports pros, hosts, entertainers, artists, and other collaborators that work with Blizzard locally and globally to make this a success. <\/p>\n

On the official BlizzCon blog<\/a>, Smith has mentioned, “The ongoing complexities and uncertainties of the pandemic have impacted our ability to properly move forward on many of these fronts, and ultimately we’re now past the point where we’d be able to develop the kind of event we’d want to create for you in November.”<\/p>\n

When will the next BlizzCon take place?<\/h2>\n

So that being said, BlizzCon is not completely getting cancelled as Smith has mentioned an early 2022 hybrid event just like 2021’s BlizzConline.<\/p>\n

She added, “We don’t want to let too long go by before we connect with everyone again. So in the meantime, we’re planning a global event for the early part of next year, combining an online show along the lines of our recent BlizzConline with smaller in-person gatherings, and we’ll share more as our plans come together.<\/p>\n

“We very much look forward to celebrating with you all again. Until then, we’ll see you in Azeroth, Outland, Sanctuary, and all the other worlds we call home.”<\/p>\n
