{"id":17402,"date":"2021-06-01T14:15:59","date_gmt":"2021-06-01T14:15:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/playstation-announces-evo-community-series-starting-june"},"modified":"2024-07-19T08:01:10","modified_gmt":"2024-07-19T08:01:10","slug":"playstation-announces-evo-community-series-starting-june","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/guilty-gear\/playstation-announces-evo-community-series-starting-june","title":{"rendered":"PlayStation announces Evo Community Series starting in June"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sony Interactive Entertainment has <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.playstation.com\/2021\/06\/01\/introducing-the-evo-community-series-playstation-4-tournaments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">announced<\/a> the Evo Community Series, with tournaments across Guilty Gear Strive, Mortal Kombat 11 and Tekken 7.<\/p>\n<p>Following <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/fgc\/evo-acquired-by-sony-playstation-return-august-2021\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">their partnership<\/a> with the fighting game tournament organisers, PlayStation is hosting a series of FGC events in the run up to this year&rsquo;s Evo Online in August.<\/p>\n<p>The series starts on 10th June with the FGC Arcade Evo Edition, with the final event taking place on 3rd August. Sony is promising over 120 tournaments, &#36;74,000 in total prizing and more than 100 hours of broadcast during this two month period.<\/p>\n<p>PlayStation is hosting the three main tournaments, where PS4 players in select regions can sign up for free and participate. The FGC Arcade Evo Edition will kick things off from 10th-22nd June for North America and Europe, with a &#36;20,000 global prize pool. The latter features tournaments in Dragon Ball FighterZ, Skullgirls, Soulcalibur VI and more.<\/p>\n<p>This announcement comes ahead of Guilty Gear Strive&rsquo;s release on 11th June, which looks set to spearhead Sony&rsquo;s push in becoming the console to play for fighting game aficionados.<\/p>\n<p>Evo Online 2021 will take place from 6th to 15th August, with tournaments in Guilty Gear Strive, Tekken 7, Street Fighter V: Champion Edition and Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate.<\/p>\n<p>Last year&rsquo;s Evo Online was cancelled following <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/video-games\/evo-president-joey-cuellar-administrative-leave-serious-accusations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">misconduct allegations<\/a> against co-founder Joey Cuellar, who has since been ousted from the company.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced the Evo Community Series, with tournaments across Guilty Gear Strive, Mortal Kombat 11 and Tekken 7.
