It has been a while since the fans heard any update on the Need For Speed titles. But who knew that the latest NFS news would talk about shutting down several older titles. In a recent post on Reddit<\/a> made by EA’s Community Manager, Max stated that EA is pulling out five NFS titles from the digital stores.<\/p>\n

“Starting May 31st 2021, Need for Speed Carbon, Need for Speed Undercover, Need for Speed Shift, Need for Speed Shift 2: Unleashed and Need for Speed The Run will be removed from digital storefronts and you will no longer be able to purchase them”, said EA’s Community Manager.<\/p>\n

Playing offline is the key<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Fans have time until the end of August to enjoy the full-fledged games, be it making some in-game purchases or racing with friends online. However, starting from September all the game servers will be taken down and players will only be able to play the games offline with their respective offline features.<\/p>\n

Why EA is s<\/strong>hutting down these titles<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In that official post, EA has also mentioned the reasons behind shutting down the titles. One of the major reasons is to focus on the future Need For Speed titles which requires significant resources. Also, the number of players playing these older titles has dropped to such an extent that keeping them going is unviable.<\/p>\n

EA’s Community Manager explained: “The number of players has come to a point where it’s no longer feasible to continue the work behind the scenes required to keep Need for Speed Carbon, Need for Speed Undercover, Need for Speed Shift, Need for Speed Shift 2: Unleashed and Need for Speed The Run up and running. We hope you have gotten many victories, satisfying drifts, moments of friendly rivalry, and hours of joy over the last few years out of these games.”<\/p>\n

While it is a piece of bad news for many, this will certainly help EA to focus on its future NFS titles to deliver a world-class experience.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
