After almost a full year of rumours and leaks, Nintendo has finally revealed the new Switch OLED Model, which isn’t exactly what everyone expected it to be.<\/p>\n

All the previous rumours were pointing toward a model which will support 4K output<\/a> and many other improved technical specifications, but it turns out this isn’t the case.<\/p>\n

The new model will come with a brand new 7-inch OLED screen<\/a>, and a few other improvements, but asides from that it seems that the performance of the system will remain more or less the same as with the basic model.<\/p>\n

The new Nintendo Switch (OLED) will become available starting 8th October 2021 and it will launch alongside Metroid Dread.<\/a><\/p>\n

Due to the current global chip shortage, we are not yet sure in which regions it will be available and how many units Nintendo plans to ship at launch.<\/p>\n

Nintendo Switch OLED price<\/h2>\n

Nintendo’s suggested retail price is $349.99 USD, but the price may vary in other regions of the world. <\/p>\n

Keep in mind that there is currently a big shortage of the next-gen consoles, which might be the case with the new Nintendo Switch (OLED) as well, which would result in higher prices.<\/p>\n

The main feature of the new system is a 7-inch (180 mm) OLED screen.<\/p>\n

The screen can output 720p resolution in handheld mode, and 1080p resolution when docked.<\/p>\n

For comparison, the base Switch model has a 6.2-inch LCD screen.<\/p>\n

Asides from being bigger, the colours, contrast and overall quality of the display should be significantly better with the new OLED screen.<\/p>\n
