Relic Entertainment and SEGA are bringing back the legendary strategy franchise, Company of Heroes, with the 3rd instalment in the series.<\/p>\n

Company of Heroes 3 has been officially revealed and there’s a lot to be excited about, especially if you are a fan of Company of Heroes 1 and its core gameplay features, as developers have revealed that they are bringing the focus back to the strategic aspects of gameplay with Company of Heroes 3.<\/p>\n

Company of Heroes 3 will reintroduce many of the beloved core mechanics from the first game while improving some less refined aspects and introducing a number of new features.<\/p>\n

Relic developers promise that player feedback will be crucial for the game’s development moving forward and that’s why they will share design documents and a lot of other information with the community as they want to hear what fans think about the game and how can they improve it.<\/p>\n

Relic Entertainment explains that the game will shift focus on “the core experience of CoH1 that has stood the test of time” alongside “targeted improvements” and new gameplay mechanics.<\/p>\n

This includes familiar mechanics like cover, suppression, and True Sight, which are all coming back in a refined state.<\/p>\n

Garrisons and building destruction are back as well, and they are “vastly improved”. Various terrain mechanics, such as sight-blocking, shot-blocking, and high ground, are getting updates and improvements as well, with a goal to make combat feel more realistic.<\/p>\n

Amongst many new gameplay mechanics, Relic highlights vehicle armour and breaches, which players can use to deal with enemy-occupied buildings.<\/p>\n

Veterancy is back as well, which will give us a reason to try to preserve experienced squads, as they can make all the difference on the battlefield.<\/p>\n

One of the core experiences of any good real-time strategy is a single-player campaign, and Relic is promising “a deep, re-playable single-player mode full of choice, progression, and non-linear exploration.”<\/p>\n

The story of Company of Heroes 3 is set in the Mediterranean and it focuses on the Allies’ Operation Husky in Italy, starting in the summer of 1943.<\/p>\n

The main new feature here is a “Dynamic Campaign Map”, which will bring to players what Relic describes as a “non-linear, decision-filled dynamic campaign.”<\/p>\n

The idea with the Dynamic Campaign Map is to create a highly replayable campaign, as things can and will change based on our actions, decisions and choices.<\/p>\n

“A new theatre of the battle brings new terrain, new combat dynamics, improved gameplay and new factions,” Relic states. “Our goal is to deliver an experience that could only be realized in the Mediterranean; soldiers from all over the world fight in the most diverse environments Company of Heroes has ever seen.”<\/p>\n

    There will be only one story campaign, where players will play as the Allies, but there will be numerous other single-player modes to choose from once you’ve finished the campaign if you don’t like to play multiplayer.<\/p>\n

    Of course, PvP is back with Company of Heroes 3, and it will come with “more playable factions than any previous title in the series.”<\/p>\n

    Multiplayer will feature some familiar factions, like the US and Wehrmacht forces, but will also introduce numerous new armies, with more unique units, vehicles, weapons, technologies, and abilities than ever before.<\/p>\n

      The game will also launch with the biggest amount of multiplayer maps in the franchise’s history, with a variety of locations and sizes for all types of strategies and playstyles.<\/p>\n

      It has been confirmed that all multiplayer maps are being developed in collaboration with renowned community map makers to ensure that they are well designed, diverse, and balanced.<\/p>\n
