In recent months, rumours have begun circulating that Rockstar Games, the studio in charge of franchises such as Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto, are looking to remaster some of their beloved back catalogue.<\/p>\n

To the relief and hopes of many of their followers, everything seems to indicate this will come true, thanks to a recent report by Kotaku<\/a> who seem to have verified the existence of a remastered GTA trilogy, through their own sources.<\/p>\n

According to the report, Rockstar Games plans to launch re-releases of three classic games from their AAA franchise; GTA 3, GTA: Vice City and GTA: San Andreas with Rockstar Dundee set to take on development duties.<\/p>\n

Following the trend of many current re-releases, these remastered versions will be developed in Unreal Engine combining “new and old” graphics, making it look like a classic GTA with several visual mods installed, as well as having improvements in its interfaces and menus.<\/p>\n

Kotaku also notes Rockstar Games and Take-Two are looking at these projects as cross-platform releases, which would mark the arrival of these titles on both PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC.<\/p>\n

Kotaku also claims the remastered GTA trilogy should have hit the market several months ago, but due to the impact of the pandemic, its developers decided to postpone it until the end of the year, scheduling its global launch for fall 2021.<\/p>\n

While this sounds too good to be true, Rockstar’s recent attempts to remove various mods and community projects that aim to bring the games up to 2021 standards, acts as further confirmation the development of the trilogy.<\/p>\n

So far, Rockstar Games hasn’t issued any statement on these reports, however more information is expected to be released in the following weeks, as the launch of GTA V’s enhanced edition<\/a> approaches.<\/p>\n
