The hopes of the TFT community to watch the best players battle in a live stage for glory will be put on hold again, as Riot Games has confirmed<\/a> their TFT Reckoning World Championship will move back to an online format.<\/p>\n

After unveiling their plans to hold the event in China<\/a> together with the 2021 League of Legends World Championship<\/a>, Riot announced this sudden decision due to the rise of COVID-19 contagion around the world, with concerns growing over the Delta variant.<\/p>\n

“With the resurgence of the Delta variant in many parts of the world, it has become much more challenging to bring players into a single physical setting. As a result, we will be pivoting the tournament to an online competition, similar to how both the Fates and Galaxies Championships took place,” said Riot’s team in their press release.<\/p>\n

While most of the regions have already finished their qualifiers for the Reckoning Championship, the tournament will be heavily impacted as all qualified players be preparing for quite a different tournament than the one they envisioned.<\/p>\n

“We still have strong aspirations to bring TFT competitions to a LAN setting; however, under the current circumstances, it would be incredibly challenging for many competitors to attend the event,” added Riot.<\/p>\n

For now, this decision also puts some worries around the League of Legends<\/a> and Valorant<\/a> competitive scenes, as the world championships for both titles are getting closer, and with all participants having to travel to China and other countries, this could put their plans on hold as well.<\/p>\n
