{"id":21184,"date":"2021-08-25T16:01:20","date_gmt":"2021-08-25T16:01:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/activision-blizzard-accused-of-shredding-documents-related-to-california-lawsuit"},"modified":"2021-08-26T05:48:16","modified_gmt":"2021-08-26T05:48:16","slug":"activision-blizzard-accused-of-shredding-documents-related-to-california-lawsuit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/video-games\/activision-blizzard-accused-of-shredding-documents-related-to-california-lawsuit","title":{"rendered":"Activision Blizzard accused of shredding documents related to California lawsuit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The California department of fair employment&nbsp; &amp; housing (DFEH) has expanded its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/video-games\/activision-blizzard-sued-by-california-over-frat-boy-culture\">anti-discrimination lawsuit<\/a> against Activision Blizzard, now including temporary workers alongside full-time female employees and claiming that the company&#8217;s HR department &#8220;shredded&#8221; documents despite the company&#8217;s legal obligation to retain them during the investigatory period.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>First <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/activision-blizzard-lawsuit-temporary-workers-4a8fa284-a003-4c56-819c-43c7c2d3f3ca.html\">reported by Axios<\/a>, the DFEH also claims that Activision Blizzard has made current employees sign NDAs (non-disclosure agreements), requiring them to speak to the company first before speaking to the DFEH in their investigation.<\/p>\n<p>These new claims could further tarnish Activision Blizzard&#8217;s reputation which has taken a battering since the lawsuit first came to light, alleging as it did a culture of &#8220;constant sexual harassment&#8221;, compounded later when former and current employees spoke of their own experiences and lambasted the company for an initial response that ultimately prompted an apology.<\/p>\n<p>Current employees <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2021\/jul\/28\/activision-blizzard-walkout-allegations-harassment-frat-boy-culture\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">staged a walkout<\/a> over the issue and the newest allegations have prompted more revulsion from those working at the company with calls to unionize.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;HR destroyed the documents related to the lawsuit&hellip;which means the fine for doing so was less than the penalty for what it was,&#8221; tweeted Test Analyst, Jessica &#8220;Rizzo&#8221; Gonzalez on hearing the news. &#8220;Shame on HR. We took appropriate steps to preserve information relevant to the DFEH investigation,&#8221; the spokesperson added.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have provided the DFEH with clear evidence that we do not have gender pay or promotion disparities.
