Following a long drought of new content from Blizzard’s side to the Overwatch community<\/a>, a new map is now available for testing within the game’s Public Test Realm (PTR).<\/p>\n

As previously leaked by Dexerto<\/a> last month, and despite a small delay in its development derived from the controversy between Activision Blizzard and its employees<\/a>, all players can now enter to experiment on the Malevento map.<\/p>\n

This new location, added during the last development patch of the Overwatch team, stands out for being set in the Italian mountainside, around a peaceful hilltop town with a cursed past hiding across its twisting streets.<\/p>\n

According to developers’ notes<\/a>, players will “battle along the cliff’s edge for dominance of the majestic Duomo di Malevento, circling their opponents beneath the mournful stone eyes of Caterina Pastore, a Renaissance painter with a tragic past, or plot the downfall of your enemies in the mysterious safe house.”<\/p>\n

Although this is the second consecutive free-for-all style map that comes to the game, its arrival was something more than awaited by all its players, after the turbulent days<\/a> its entire community has gone through recently, as well as for being the first major addition to the game since Kanezaka in late 2020<\/a>, due to the developers’ current focus on creating Overwatch 2<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The new Malevento map is now available only for PC via PTR, so console players will have to wait a bit longer before they can experiment with this little but cursed Italian town.<\/p>\n

Besides, this isn’t the only update the Overwatch team has released, as they revealed their  sudden but expected decision to rename McCree’s character, due to a series of accusations against an eponymous Blizzard designer revealed earlier this month.<\/p>\n
