Rocket League’s addition of player anthems back in the free-to-play Season 2 has definitely changed the landscape of car soccer customization, and whilst most players still have this option muted (for obvious reasons), there are certain tunes; you just can’t miss out on… this is one of them.

In a surprise announcement, developers Psyonix decided to drop a bomb on all rocketeers kickstarting the Radio Classics playlist with a banger: Smash Mouth’s “All Star.”

“Look for more Radio Classics in the future”, Rocket League warned their followers in the announcement tweet, foreshadowing more and more Billboard hits coming our way from here on after.

The All Star player anthem has an Import item rarity and is available for 48 hours starting on 4th September 2021.

It has a cost of 300 in-game credits or around $3.00, and it is not tradeable amongst players meaning that until Psyonix decides to make it available again in the item shop, you have until time expires to get yourself a copy — maybe for forever.

Player anthems have a bad reputation of being intrusive in the day-to-day rocketeer’s gameplay, especially if they are closely listening to the engines, boost and demos around them or simply streaming trying to avoid any copyright strikes.

Of course, a DMCA-safe option was implemented recently, saving some headaches from creators all over the globe, but the nature of music to blurting out 5-10 seconds of a song for every score and MVP performance can get tedious — especially when someone is heavy carrying.

This anthem, though is a warcry for the meme generation and a staple in internet culture that might just get enough rocketeers back into the habit of listening and choosing their celebration tunes.

The last time a Rocket League player anthem shook the internet and player base as such was the addition of Lil Nas X’s Montero (Call Me By Your Name) alongside the Love ISLV bundle that meme’d lobbies to no end — maybe all that glitters is gold after all.
