The New World open beta<\/a> has started, and it will be the last chance for both players and developers to test the game before its full release later this month.<\/p>\n

Or, at least, we hope that it will be the last chance, as New World is no stranger to delays, which it had several over the last year and a half, the latest one being from this August<\/a>, as developers needed a few more weeks to implement changes based on closed beta feedback.<\/p>\n

The current New World open beta will serve for testing those new changes, as well as for further optimisation of the game, as one of the issues players have been talking about was a rather poor performance, even on high-end PCs (not to mention the infamous bricking of GeForce RTX 3090 cards<\/a>).<\/p>\n

If you are planning on visiting Aeternum during the open beta and play the game extensively over the weekend,  you will level up your character a lot and make decent progress through the story.<\/p>\n

It would be a shame if all that invested time turns out to be wasted, but will that progression be saved for the launch, or will you lose all your progress during the New World open beta?<\/p>\n

Will there be a progress wipe between New World open beta and launch? <\/h2>\n

The New World open beta will last for almost 4 full days, from 9th September at 7 am PT \/ 10 am ET \/ 4 pm CET until 12th September at 11:59 pm PT \/ 13th September 3 am ET \/ 9 am CET.<\/p>\n

This means that players will have plenty of time to explore the world, develop their character, and progress through the story by completing various quests and world events.<\/p>\n

If you have an awful lot of free time on your hands and you want to put in a lot of hours into the beta during the weekend, you will probably make a lot of progress across all aspects of the game.<\/p>\n

But will all that be in vain, or will you be able to pick up right where you left off when the game launches?<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, developers at Amazon Games have confirmed that there will be a full wipe between the New World open beta and launch, which means that all your beta progress will be lost, and you will start with a fresh account when the game releases.<\/p>\n

With this information in mind, we advise not to invest too much time playing the beta unless you don’t care that you will be left without everything when the beta ends.<\/p>\n
