In essence, rollback netcode is used to simulate or predict inputs during a match, making the experience feel seamless online, even when there is a slight delay. This is a crucial aspect of fighting games as they often require very precise timings.

What this means is that players can experience a match as if they were in an offline environment. If the inputs don’t match up, the game will roll back the frames to make them match.

If you’re playing with someone on high ping, this can cause massive issues, but in general, rollback is preferred over delay-based netcode.
