As we get closer to the end of Teamfight Tactics: Reckoning’s<\/a> cycle, we have got the chance to learn more about the next set scheduled to arrive in early November, Gizmos and Gadgets.<\/p>\n

Mostly focused on Runeterra’s Hextech technology, Gizmos and Gadgets<\/a> will introduce both new mechanics based on highly advanced tools, together with a new roster of traits and champions to pick for your comp in the Convergence.<\/p>\n

These won’t be the only changes coming with Set 6, as Stephen ‘Mortdog’ Mortimer, Lead Gameplay Designer for Teamfight Tactics, has revealed earlier today in his latest \/Dev blog<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Removing of rank demotions for TFT<\/strong><\/h2>\n

While one of the biggest introductions of this set will come with the Hextech Augments, a new system with tons of unique opportunities for the battle, players will be glad to hear of a big change that will arrive in TFT’s ranked ladder, with the removing of ranked demotions.<\/p>\n

As Mortdog explained in the blog, since the official launch of TFT two years ago, the auto battler has used the same league system as League of Legends due to its accelerated development, which brought more cons than pros due to players stopping playing for fear of losing their current rank, and with it, the seasonal rewards.<\/p>\n

Thus, beginning with the arrival of Gizmos and Gadgets, players will never be able to demote from that rank for that half of the set, while Ranked resets will still be a thing after each set and mid-set release, to maintain a balance in TFT’s ranked ladder.<\/p>\n

Mortdog clarified this change could lead to inflated ranks, so to compensate they’ll be making it a bit harder to reach each new rank, while other improvements are still being tested before the set’s release.<\/p>\n

“There isn’t a fix-all to make the Ranked climb perfect, but expect us to improve the core Ranked climb experience every set from here on out. It’s a lot of people’s primary progression goal, so it needs to be as engaging as possible!”<\/p>\n

Improving the 5-cost units<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The 5-cost units have become an indispensable part of any TFT game, however, during the debut and the first half of the Reckoning set, many of these units did not have as much relevance in the meta due to their low potential to be carries in-game.<\/p>\n

According to Mortdog, this situation will change greatly with Set 6, by re-using a framework established in the Festival of Beasts update that will introduce eight 5-cost champions, consisting of five unique carries and three unique utility champs, giving more prominence and versatility to these powerful units.<\/p>\n

Likewise, players should “expect this framework for 5-cost design [will remain] for future sets, keeping exciting end game fantasies as a core part of each set.”<\/p>\n

Lastly, he also confirmed Gizmos and Gadgets will continue to balance through much lighter touches to avoid balance thrash, while focusing on making traits that provide unique and transformative experiences, and revealed Hyper Roll will be available for at least another set, to make some adjustments based on feedback.<\/p>\n
