League of Legends: Wild Rift’s patch 2.5 is set to bring a lot of new features into the game, with the return of the Guild system, big changes to the Rift Herald and ranked queues, a new Wild Pass with lots of rewards, and the addition of three more champions.

The first of the new DLC characters will hail from Bandle City, the land of the mythical and fluffy Yordles, however, the champion won’t be as nice as you may think, due to his stubborn nature and his endless fascination for the mysteries of the universe, that led him to push his skills beyond the limitations of yordle magic.

Introducing Veigar, the Tiny Master of Evil.

With his passive, Phenomenal Evil Power, whenever Veigar strikes an enemy Champion with a spell or scores a takedown, it will grant him a permanent bonus of Ability Power.

Let’s move on to his active skills:

Veigar is known for his incredibly useful skillset, since it allows both to play it as a solo laner within the middle lane, as well as to use it to prevent enemy attacks and ambushes using it as a support in the bot lane, and thanks to his low cooldowns, spamming his abilities it’s usually quite easy.

While Veigar is used as a flex-pick as we said earlier, his summoner spells will be focused on giving him a better chance to survive against enemy ambushes.

Alternatively, you can also pick Ignite as it can be used as a tool to finish off enemies in case they want to escape with low health, also opening a window of opportunity against enemies with lifesteal or healing abilities.

Due to his massive damage capabilities, Veigar’s items will be focused on maximizing his AP and magic penetration, increasing the impact of his abilities and lane push when using his full combo, making him a difficult enemy to contain in the mid and late game.

You can complete his comp by picking either Void Staff, to increase your magic penetration drastically, or Liandry’s Torment to burn tanky enemies when you hit them with your abilities.

Since his launch in July 2009, Veigar has been one of the most dominant champions in the mid lane, having abilities that allow him to literally smash through enemies with a massive blast of dark energy.

However, one of the biggest disadvantages of the Tiny Master of Evil is his early game, since most of its potential depends on his scaling, so at first, it will look too weak if you don’t get to control its abilities in an appropriate way, or if you don’t receive help from one of your allies.

That is why, at least in the first part of the game, we will suggest you keep a certain distance from your enemies, focusing more than anything on farming minions, in addition to last hit them at the precise moment with your Baleful Strike.

When the mid game arrives or your jungle is at your disposal for an ambush, try to use your Event Horizon to lock up, and in the best of cases, stun your enemies. In this second case, feel free to use your Baleful Strike and Dark Matter on them almost immediately, to lower a large amount of life to your opponent.

Learning to use this combo with Veigar is very simple thanks to the wide range of his abilities, just keep in mind that being a mage with little probability of survival, you should look for the best time to use these or you can be an easy target for your enemies.

Finally, your Primordial Burst will be both your most powerful attack and also t last resort, since you can use it safely to completely finish off a target, as well as to finish your combo perfectly if you have already scaled your ability power to enough.

So, if you are a rookie on Wild Rift, and you want to learn both how to play as a solo laner and how to farm better, there is no doubt that Veigar will be a good option, and if you get to master him, get ready to explode all those who want to face you.

Veigar’s active and passive abilities
