Nintendo continues to gain attention, albeit not for the right reasons following their stunning announcement during the latest Animal Crossing Direct showcase. During the showcase, Nintendo announced the next batch of content arriving at Animal Crossing: New Horizons, including the Happy Homes DLC.<\/p>\n

Players were shocked to learn that the DLC is the game’s only and paid content arriving in the game. However, a new interview has detailed what content players will have access to should players lose access to the DLC in regards to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Will Happy Home make for happy players<\/h2>\n

In a Q&A session with Eurogamer<\/a>, Nintendo representatives discussed in detail several of the announcements made during the Direct showcase. One such announcement discussed was the Happy Home Paradise DLC.<\/p>\n

The DLC, which will be included in the Switch Online + Expansion Pack bundle for free, and will also be available separately for $24,99. While the price has infuriated dedicated players, Nintendo has further detailed what players could gain access to if they unsubscribe from the abovementioned membership.<\/p>\n

“Players can still continue to access certain things they have unlocked in Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Happy Home Paradise on their main island, including adding counters, partition walls, as well as adding ambient lighting and soundscapes, even if their access to Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Happy Home Paradise is suspended.”<\/p>\n

“However, it will not be possible to visit the archipelago if players lose access to the DLC. To be able to visit the archipelago and take on requests of designing vacation homes again, you will need to purchase the DLC separately or renew the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership,” a Nintendo spokesperson explained.<\/p>\n

Sadly, alongside the arrival of the DLC, the next update will be the last major update for the game, which has disappointed many fans. There will be smaller updates planned for the game; however, it does mean that the game’s cycle is about to end soon.<\/p>\n

While many continue to criticise<\/a> Nintendo for making a terrible marketing move by “renting” the DLC in the membership, given its limited library when it launches. Yet, there is a glimmer of optimism for what the next update will bring to the game when it arrives next month.<\/p>\n
