Día de los Muertos or the Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday celebrated on the 1st and 2nd of November and is a celebration of both the living and dead.<\/p>\n

Awareness of it has exploded in recent years, with colourful calavera (skulls) being seen on cheap t-shirts to expensive tequilas.<\/p>\n

It is that slightly hack aspect of what is an important festival in Mexico that Riot hope to sidestep with their new Day of the Dead inspired Valorant<\/a> skins.<\/p>\n

The new bundle, called Nunca Olvidados which translates to “never forgotten”, has employed artists intimately connected with the festivities to capture the “essence” of this all-important holiday.<\/p>\n

As Art Director, San Marino explains:<\/p>\n

“It was us creating [skins] to recognize Día de los Muertos that wasn’t just covering the weapon in skulls. We wanted to be as authentic as possible.”<\/p>\n

The skins are boldly coloured with beautiful illustrations featuring flowers and people.<\/p>\n

“We made sure to use imagery and colours that accurately represent the holiday,” explained Marino.<\/p>\n

The skins also feature the day\/night tech like that seen with the Winter Wunderland skins, however, unlike other skins players can select these via variants.<\/p>\n
