Following a hefty $18 million settlement following multiple lawsuits for discrimination and, “false and misleading statements,” and more, Activision Blizzard has reportedly laid off over 20 employees.

Following the Equal Employment Opportunity Comision and California Civil Rights agency’s resolution three years of an ongoing investigation, the video game developer is finally taken some action in creating a better workspace for their people.

Despite releasing 20 employees, Activision Blizzard declined to list those involved although reportedly no one from the senior management or company board members were part of this group.

In a company memo, they assured current staff that they now have “a renewed urgency” after several years of uncontrolled tumults that will be handled promptly to create a better workplace for everyone.

Part of the new strategy to create a more accountable work environment where “the team has confidence that, when they speak up, they will be heard” is to enlarge their ethics and compliance team and design and apply new human resources protocols.

These should be the first of many steps for a company that cannot allow this to happen within their walls if they want a chance to keep creating gaming classics like Candy Crush or Call of Duty in the future.
