With the release of Call of Duty: Vanguard<\/a> right around the corner, scheduled for 5th November, fans of free-to-play battle royale Warzone can expect massive changes.<\/p>\n

While it was already previously announced that Verdansk would be no more, leaving room for a bigger map called Caldera<\/a>, we know now the battle royale will undergo a bit of a name change, and more importantly, it will feature a new engine.<\/p>\n

In a blog post<\/a> shared this 27th October, Activision revealed that Warzone will now sport the Pacific subtitle to differentiate the Verdansk era from this revamped experience. <\/p>\n

“The new Pacific formally launches as part of <\/span>Vanguard’s first season of content. A map roughly the size of Verdansk, which it will replace as part of the update, this new map is based on two years of research and listening to the community,” the post explains.<\/span><\/p>\n

What’s more interesting is that developers confirmed Warzone Pacific’s map would run in the same engine used for Vanguard, perhaps unsurprising news, but one that fans had been waiting for confirmation on.<\/p>\n

“Built on the same tech and engine as <\/span>Call of Duty: Vanguard, this map is visually appealing as it is ready to support this new game’s armaments, and will support fully optimized cross-play, cross-progression, and cross-gen support.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The IW 8.0 engine was built by Infinity Ward to create Warzone and was not used for Black Ops Cold War, however, SledgeHammer games confirmed an updated version was used in the development of Vanguard.<\/p>\n
