William “Requiem” Hutchinson, one of the top Rocket League players in the Oceanic region has been permanently banned from any and all Psyonix-operated events effective immediately for a death threat, his use of hate speech and racial slurs in a Discord chat.

The log leaked by Eli “eli” C. in a tweet came to Rocket League/Psyonix Senior Community Manager, Devin Connors’ notice who stated they were “looking into this.”

This incident also involved another prolific OCE pro in multi-time regional champion Alex “Decka” Tsoutsouras who faces a two-season ban for his use of homophobic slurs.

Four days later, the ruling was made official by Rocket League Esports Manager Murty “Scheist” Shah over on the video game’s subreddit.

“After a thorough investigation, we have determined that two players repeatedly engaged in harassment towards other players that directly violates the Code of Conduct”, the ruling read.

Neither Decka nor Requiem played for their teams in yesterday’s OCE Regional #2, both being replaced by their subs in the Swiss Stage where Wildcard Gaming and Grogans were eliminated with 1-3 records.

While it was first speculated that the leak was caused by a qualifier match that took an ugly turn, it was later revealed to GINX’s Rocket League source, 33 Boost, that the chat took place in December 2019 in a now-deleted Discord server.

Since the leak, Requiem deactivated his Twitter account and Decka protected his, making it private and follow-request only, previously bashing people who came at others with their past mistakes.

This isn’t the first time RLCS organisers hand out hefty bans as they handed two pros a six-month ban and a one-year ban in the last 12 months for Code of Conduct violations both in Discord and in-game.

Requiem’s teammates Bailey “Mock” Bedford, Aidan “zenulous” Hui and Tai “Shorez” Kibble are yet to comment on the matter at the time of publication.

Wildcard Gaming, NA org that reentered Rocket League by signing Decka and his squad, is yet to comment on the matter at the time of publication. We’ll keep you updated as the situation develops.

Make sure to follow us at @33Boost on Twitter for more news, content and giveaways and check out our dedicated Rocket League GINX TV section.

Feature image courtesy of Twitter.

William “Requiem” Hutchinson, one of the top Rocket League players in the Oceanic region has been permanently banned from any and all Psyonix-operated events effective…

["post-23885","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-rocket-league","genre-sports-game","content_type-news
