miHoYo announced a huge batch of content that will be coming to Genshin Impact in the 2.3 update<\/a>, “Shadows Amidst Snowstorms”. While this will be keeping us entertained right through the Holiday Season, we also saw some significant changes that will be added to the game.<\/p>\n

While it was overlooked amongst all the amazing announcements, miHoYo will be introducing a new Wish banner type, Character Event Wish-2, with the next update. The mechanic has left players perplexed on how it will work; however, you can find the answer below.<\/p>\n

Genshin Impact 2.3: Character Event Wish-2<\/h2>\n

Outlining the mechanics of Character Event Wish-2, miHoYo has explained that there will be two-character Wish banner events running concurrently, as we also saw during the 2.3 Special Program livestream, and there will be a shared guarantee count between both of them.<\/p>\n

Since Travelers use their Primogems towards Wish banners, players are almost guaranteed a 5-star character based on the number of wishes they make. Now with this new type of Wish banner, this progress will be shared between the two Wish banner types; however, this won’t happen with other banner events including Weapon Event and Standard Wish banners.<\/p>\n

How does the Character Event Wish-2 work?<\/h2>\n

The developers detailed how Travelers will be rewarded with 5-star characters through the Character Event Wish-2 banner. “If you fail to obtain a 5-star character after making 50 Wishes in ‘Character Event Wish’ and continue to wish in ‘Character Event Wish-2’, within a maximum of 40 Wishes made in ‘Character Event Wish-2’, you will be guaranteed to obtain a 5-star character from ‘Character Event Wish-2’ they explained.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, if Travelers do not receive a 5-star character that isn’t featured in the Character Event Wish but wishes to transfer to Character Event Wish-2, Travelers are guaranteed the promotional character featured in the Character Event Wish-2 banner.<\/p>\n

To put this into practice, if Travelers make Wishes against the Albedo<\/a> banner can switch over to Eula<\/a>’s banner to continue making Wishes. Since the Wishes are shared between the banners, Travelers will likely lose 50\/50 on one banner but are guaranteed to obtain a 5-star character on the next banner if they make the required Wishes.<\/p>\n
