Despite its excellent start, when the game saw hundreds of thousands of gamers playing it each day, it seems that Amazon’s MMORPG, New World,<\/a> is slowly starting to reveal its flaws, for which there are many.<\/p>\n

And we are not talking about design or balance problems, like the ridiculously underpowered musket builds or the lack of meaningful end game content, rather about the numerous technical issues, some of them allowing players to tamper with others’ experience simply by entering certain commands into global chat.<\/p>\n

And then, there are the various exploits, with new ones seemingly popping up every week, like the invincibility exploit<\/a> or gold dupe bug<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The broader community became aware of the latest exploit abuse over this weekend when “guides” on how to abuse trophy dupe glitch started circling online.<\/p>\n

It became such a problem that the developers have had to take drastic measures.<\/p>\n

New World turns off wealth transfer to fix trophy dupe glitch<\/h2>\n

The latest New World glitch, as explained on the official New World forum, allowed players to duplicate any piece of furniture in the game.<\/p>\n

Not only does this allow for players to infinitely duplicate rare and expensive items to sell them and earn money, but also allowed cheaters to dupe trophies, which provide various passive bonuses for combat, crafting, and storage, making those players more powerful.<\/p>\n

Upon learning about the exploit, New World community manager “Tosch” quickly posted a message to inform players about the temporarily disabling of wealth transfer, assuring the community that actions will be taken against everyone who has abused the glitch.<\/p>\n

“Hi all, We are aware of a possible duplication exploit that has been circulating the forums and social media. We are disabling all forms of wealth transfer between players,” Tosch wrote. “Any player that has engaged in the use of this exploit will be actioned against. Once the duplication exploit has been investigated and we are ready to turn on wealth transfer again, we will update this post.”<\/p>\n

Needless to say, the community is demanding harsh punishments for anyone who has participated in this abuse. Skimming over New World’s subreddit will give you a clear picture of the current sentiment in the community, which asks for permanent bans<\/a> for the trophy dupe abusers. <\/p>\n

“Dear AGS: If this trophy dupe isn’t met with overwhelming punishment then it’s a clear spit in the face of any player who’s pushed hard in your game,”  wrote Devildog0491<\/a>, with many other highly-upvoted threads and comments requesting exploiters to be permanently banned.<\/p>\n

Many players are afraid that punishment will be light and inadequate, as there are reports that previous gold dupe abusers were banned for only 24 hours. <\/p>\n

One thing is for sure, the community wants to see heads rolling this time around, but it remains to be seen what kind of punishment the developers will ultimately take.<\/p>\n
