Battlefield 2042<\/a> has had a rocky start and the community has been loud and clear in conveying their dissatisfaction with the state of the game.<\/p>\n

At the time of writing, Battlefield 2042 has a “Mostly Negative” score on Steam and the game’s subreddit has been filled with nothing but complaints and ridicule.<\/p>\n

The community has protested the removal of what DICE calls “legacy features” such as the classic scoreboard<\/a>, server browser<\/a>, and voice chat,<\/a> but also the generally lacklustre state of the game, including bad optimisation, strange behaviour of weapons, design of maps and specialists.<\/p>\n

This week DICE has finally responded in an extensive blog post,<\/a> detailing their plans for the upcoming weeks, as well as giving bits of information about future updates in 2022.<\/p>\n

The first planned patch is scheduled for  Thursday, 25th November, and it is set to fix some of the most urgent problems within the game.<\/p>\n

When it comes to balancing, players quickly figured out how ridiculously overpowered the Hovercraft was, with its insanely high durability and effectiveness in combat. DICE explained that their goal behind the vehicle’s design was to be “an alternative to the LATV4, but not as an upgrade.”<\/p>\n

Thus, with Update 2, they are nerfing both the Hovercraft’s armour and the damage output of its armament. The MD540 Nightbird helicopter is another vehicle that will receive nerfs, by lowering splash damage of its Anti Vehicle Rocket.<\/p>\n

Battlefield 2042 Update 2 will also introduce the measures towards fixing the bullet spread<\/a>, one of the main targets of criticism, with countless clips showing players shooting directly at targets and yet seemingly missing their shots.<\/p>\n

Also known as bullet “bloom” or “deviation”, the bullet spread was too high and DICE acknowledged that, but claims that it was an unintentional thing.<\/p>\n

“On Assault Rifles like the AK-24, the spread tends to be too high, especially when moving while zoomed which causes problematic engagements in the average combat distances of our maps,” DICE stated. “Weapons miss more often than they really should which makes for an unsatisfying experience and can feel unfair when you have done all you could to nicely align your shots.” <\/p>\n

The update promises a series of adjustments across numerous weapons which will hopefully reduce the spread and make for a better shooting experience.<\/p>\n

Finally, Update 2 will make several improvements for the “Revive” mechanic, most importantly it will remove the annoying bug which prevents players from reviving fallen teammates if they are near an object.<\/p>\n

These are all just the first steps that will lead towards the much bigger Update 3 in early December, as well as another update before the holidays season.<\/p>\n

“With Update #3 arriving early December, we’ll be delivering our biggest update since launch, with significantly more fixes, changes, and more importantly, Quality of Life enhancements due to arrive in the game,” revealed DICE.<\/p>\n
