Battlefield 2042 has had a rocky start and the community has been loud and clear in conveying their dissatisfaction with the state of the game.

At the time of writing, Battlefield 2042 has a “Mostly Negative” score on Steam and the game’s subreddit has been filled with nothing but complaints and ridicule.

The community has protested the removal of what DICE calls “legacy features” such as the classic scoreboard, server browser, and voice chat, but also the generally lacklustre state of the game, including bad optimisation, strange behaviour of weapons, design of maps and specialists.

This week DICE has finally responded in an extensive blog post, detailing their plans for the upcoming weeks, as well as giving bits of information about future updates in 2022.

The first planned patch is scheduled for Thursday, 25th November, and it is set to fix some of the most urgent problems within the game.

When it comes to balancing, players quickly figured out how ridiculously overpowered the Hovercraft was, with its insanely high durability and effectiveness in combat. DICE explained that their goal behind the vehicle’s design was to be “an alternative to the LATV4, but not as an upgrade.”

Thus, with Update 2, they are nerfing both the Hovercraft’s armour and the damage output of its armament. The MD540 Nightbird helicopter is another vehicle that will receive nerfs, by lowering splash damage of its Anti Vehicle Rocket.
