It’s been a couple of weeks since Worlds 2021 came to an end, following the victory of Edward Gaming over DWG KIA<\/a> to become the new world champions.<\/p>\n

Outside of results, this year’s World Championship left many things to talk about, including the sudden absence of Elias “Upset” Lipp, Fnatic’s bot laner, just a day before the start of the Groups Stage due to an “urgent family matter”,<\/a> being replaced by their Academy’s bot laner, Louis “Bean” Schmitz, for the remainder of the tournament.<\/p>\n

Now, with the transfer period currently running, the team’s top laner Adam Maanane has taken the opportunity to announce not only his exit from Fnatic but also what could be the real reason behind Upset’s sudden departure from Iceland.<\/p>\n

In a Twitlonger<\/a>, Adam has claimed Upset lied to his teammates about the reason for his departure, with Fnatic covering up for the player.<\/p>\n

“Between us, there is absolutely nothing legal in Upset’s departure and this is totally unjustified (at least until he says why he really left because until today, Upset just left to join his girlfriend because she felt bad to be alone, and maybe I’m wrong who knows? Anyway, those were the last words he said to us before he left us one day before Worlds,” explains Adam.<\/p>\n

“I asked for details, but apparently he didn’t tell anyone the exact reasons for his departure. There’s nothing urgent because otherwise, he would have told us. And personally, I don’t give a damn about the privacy reason when […] we all worked hard for 1 year to reach the Worlds.”<\/p>\n

According to the top laner, Upset originally announced his departure 12 hours before their first match. The lack of time to prepare with their replacement was a big part of why they did so poorly, as Fnatic’s Worlds run came to an abrupt end finishing last in the Group Stage.<\/p>\n

“Maybe we could have made it out of these groups if everyone had managed to keep their spirits up from the beginning of the competition,” explained Adam. “But unfortunately, not everyone was really mentally prepared to handle this situation and deal with it, along with all the potential personal problems that can arise and create even more shit in your head when you’re already in bad shape,” said Adam.<\/p>\n

Adam also took aim at Fnatic, saying he felt “betrayed” since he knew they were trying to replace him, learning that Upset was trying to recruit Team Liquid’s Alphari behind his back. Upset allegedly was also looking for a replacement for Nisqy, Fnatic’s mid lane.<\/p>\n

Both Fnatic and Upset have yet to respond to Adam’s claims.<\/p>\n
