With the inclusion of Albedo in the Genshin Impact 2.3 update<\/a>, by way of the event, “Shadows Amidst Snowstorms<\/a>“, two separate characters have recently been mentioned that have connections with the master alchemist.<\/p>\n

One of these characters is a Black Serpentine Dragon named Durin that was once a gentle mystical figure in the region of Mondstadt before it was corrupted.<\/p>\n

For those who want to learn more about Durin, we detail everything you need to know about this monstrous dragon and its possible appearance in Genshin Impact.<\/p>\n

Durin’s physical appearance in Genshin Impact<\/h2>\n

According to lore, Durin had a heart of gold and had dreams of befriending a fellow dragon, Dvalin and the people of Mondstadt.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, Durin was corrupted by the alchemist, Rhinedottir (who is also known as Gold) which altered his appearance and motives.<\/p>\n

The shadow dragon took on a dark, grotesque form that saw his body become disfigured, bearing a skeletal look with bright, glowing red eyes.<\/p>\n

Durin’s story and legacy in Genshin Impact<\/h2>\n

After being corrupted by Rhinedottir, Durin was the dragon responsible for the chaos caused in Mondstadt<\/a> before he was ultimately defeated by Dvalin. Before his untimely demise, he was responsible for poisoning Dvalin when Durin pierced his throat, which allowed the Abyss Order to corrupt the dragon.<\/p>\n

The remains of Durin are said to have crashed on a snowy mountain peak in the region which has since been known as Dragonspine Mountain.<\/p>\n

His body was subsequently laid to rest in Wyrmrest Valley for which several parts of his body had been used to forge the four-star sword weapon, Festering Desire<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The weapon is said to contain the tragic dreams of Durin which tells that the dragon had always aspired to battle with Dvalin. These dreams also suggest how corrupted Durin’s mind was before the weapon was purified by the Traveler during “The Chalk Prince and the Dragon<\/a>” event.<\/p>\n

Quite similarly, the Traveler also assisted with the purification of Dvalin’s blood during the Prologue Archon Quests in Mondstadt. This took place during Act II: For a Tomorrow Without Tears and Act III: Song of the Dragon and Freedom.<\/p>\n

Durin’s reemergence in Genshin Impact<\/h2>\n

Genshin Impact 2.3 update marked the return of Albedo and a tie-in themed event, “Shadows Amidst Snowstorms”. The Traveler aids Albedo<\/a> in his investigation while Albedo makes references to the former shadow dragon and his connections to Rhinedottir and Durin.<\/p>\n
