The latest announcement from video games developer Respawn Entertainment signals an end of an era after the company revealed it would be pulling Titanfall from storefront shelves. This comes after years of battling against hackers and distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks, which eventually prompted the games studio to delist the original Titanfall from being sold.<\/p>\n

Respawn throw in the towel, removing Titanfall from sale<\/h2>\n

An official statement<\/a> on 1st December via the official Respawn Twitter account revealed that new sales of the original Titanfall game would be discontinued, effective immediately.<\/p>\n

The American development studio further added that they would be removing the game from subscription services on 1st March 2022 but would keep the servers live for the dedicated fanbase still playing the game.<\/p>\n

“Rest assured, Titanfall is core to Respawn’s DNA, and this incredible universe will continue,” the developers noted. Indeed, Titanfall is survived by its successor Titanfall 2 and Respawn’s highly acclaimed battle royale Apex Legends.<\/p>\n

“This franchise is a north star for the calibre of experiences we will continue to create here at Respawn. Thank you from the entire Respawn team,” the developers concluded.<\/p>\n

Although Respawn didn’t note the exact reason they are pulling Titanfall, there is no doubt that the decision resulted from the ongoing battle against hackers and DDoS attacks, which many players consider rendered the game unplayable.<\/p>\n

While the developers have terminated Titanfall, the franchise as a whole is not dead. However, with that said, players should not be hopeful<\/a> that the developers will release a third instalment of the franchise.<\/p>\n

Instead, Titanfall will likely live on within the Apex Legends universe and less so in Titanfall 2, which is mostly riddled with hackers. This is demonstrated by introducing characters, like Valkyrie<\/a> and Ash<\/a>, to Apex Legends, who have strong ties to the Titanfall franchise.<\/p>\n
