The career of one of LCK’s iconic players has come to an end, as Bae “Bang” Jun-sik, a two-time League of Legends world champion, has announced his retirement from the competitive scene.<\/p>\n

The surprising revelation has managed to shock the entire League of Legends, who after seeing the departure of another uncrowned legend with the farewell of Kim “Khan” Dong-ha a few days ago, will now see another player hang up the keyboard after a more than successful career.<\/p>\n

This announcement came in the form of a farewell letter delivered by Bang through his Instagram account, in which he revealed his retirement from esports in order to fulfil his duties in Korea’s military service, which is also the reason so many other players from the country have given as reason for their retirement.<\/p>\n

“Walking in the one direction of a professional gamer with my experience in League of Legends, I was able to form many valuable relationships, accumulate precious memories and make various achievements in my lifetime. These experiences are something that I feel blessed and most grateful of.”<\/p>\n

Bang’s career within League of Legends saw him play on iconic teams and rosters from both the LCK and LCS, including SKT, 100 Thieves, Evil Geniuses, and finally, Afreeca Freecs.<\/p>\n

Admittedly his power in recent years had waned, however, there is no doubt he is one of the game’s all-time greats,  ending his career as a four-time LCK champion, a one-time champion of the Intel Extreme Masters, and a two-time champion of both the MSI and Worlds.<\/p>\n

“I know that in the future, there will be new things and experiences that are going to be totally different from the world I have been, but will take my past experiences and achievements as a cornerstone in moving forward.<\/p>\n

Thank you again for everyone’s support until now, and I will be back soon again as a better person and better “Bang” in the future.”<\/p>\n
