The Sinnoh region is infamous for not having enough Fire-types. Even Flint, the Fire-type user from the Elite Four, doesn’t have a full team of Fire Pokémon.<\/p>\n

If you didn’t pick Chimchar at the beginning of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl<\/a>, then you might be struggling to add a Fire-type to your team. However, if you venture into the Grand Underground, your luck might change.<\/p>\n

Outside of the Grand Underground, your only option is Ponyta, which isn’t too enticing. Underneath the surface, though, you have access to all sorts of Fire-types<\/a>, like Growlithe. If you want to add the famous fire dog to your team, check out the guide below.<\/p>\n

Catching Growlithe in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl<\/h2>\n

Unfortunately for fans in need of a Fire-type, you can’t find Growlithe until you’ve beaten Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl and acquired the National Dex from Professor Rowan. This is accomplished through seeing all 150 Pokémon in the Sinnoh Pokédex. <\/p>\n

With the National Dex in your possession, you can head to the Grand Underground using your Explorer’s Kit. Here, you’ll need to find a Volcanic Cave Hideaways area, which is marked by a red square on your Grand Underground map. <\/p>\n

Inside of the cave is the only location that you can find Growlithe in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. If you enter the cave and the Pokémon isn’t there, then exit and re-enter to re-roll the spawns of the available mons in the area. Repeat this process until Growlithe shows up, at which point you can run up to it and attempt to catch it. <\/p>\n

If you’ve managed to add Growlithe to your party, then you’ll also need to find a Fire Stone to evolve it into Arcanine. For easy Fire Stones, you can head to Fuego Ironworks near Floaroma Town. <\/p>\n
