The Valorant competitive season might be over, yet the first major moves have already begun ahead of the next season, with some of the best teams from Champions Berlin heading into the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) 2022.

Previously, we had quite a surprise by the departure of KRÜ Esports’ coach, Rodrigo “Onur” Dalmagro. However, recently, the Korean competitive Counter-Strike: Global Offensive legend Kang “solo” Geun-Chul stunned the community when he announced that he would be joining the powerful esports organisation, DWG KIA, with an extensive resume under his belt.

For those who don’t know, solo is a retired Counter-Strike player who, after a brief but successful stint at NUTURN Gaming, managed to become a semifinalist at Valorant Masters Reykjavík. After that, however, the star player changed his mouse yet again, this time, to command the Korean team DWG KIA as their new head coach.

“The Asian Monster ‘solo’ Keun-Chul has joined the DWG KIA Valorant team as a Head Coach. Please give big support and interest to our new coach, who will lead the team to victory with his knowledge and experience,” mentioned DWG KIA in their long-awaited reveal post on Facebook. Solo’s transition from CS:GO to the Valorant scene had quite a few ups and downs. For example, while the first half of the year saw his team dominate in Korea, they couldn’t replicate these results in the face of the major events held in Berlin.

In a Twitter post on 12th November, solo said, “Without the fans, I would not have been able to come here. Really thanks to my fans and NUTURN Gaming. Now I’m going to go on the path of player to coach scheme,” shortly after finishing his run at NUTURN Gaming.

supported, believed me for a long time. Really thanks to my fans and NUTURN Gaming. Now I’m going to go on the path of player to coach scheme. The team has not been decided, but I will always do my best…

— solo (@solo_VLRT) November 12, 2021

Solo joins DWG KIA as head coach
