While Activision has appropriated an aggressive response to cheating with the release of its new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/video-games\/activision-announces-ricochet-kernel-level-anti-cheat-for-warzone-and-vanguard\">Ricochet anti-cheat<\/a> system, it did not initially spark much fear among cheat providers.<\/p>\n<p>For instance, following Ricochet&#8217;s release, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/call-of-duty\/warzone-cheaters-banned-engineowning-cheats\">EngineOwning<\/a> boasted its ability to easily bypass Ricochet, which, at least by now, they might come to regret. However, it seems Activision&#8217;s decision to &#8220;hit them where it hurts&#8221; (i.e., their wallets) might have been the correct course of action, after all.<\/p>\n<h2>Major Call of Duty cheat providers are shutting down<\/h2>\n<p>According to a source, cheat provider Cynical Software said that they are &#8220;immediately stopping sales&#8221; of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/call-of-duty\">Call of Duty<\/a> related hacks and cheats, citing &#8220;they don&#8217;t want to get sued.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-twitter-extracted-i1641536016838732866=\"true\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Cheat provider Cynical Software announced in their public Telegram channel today that they are immediately stopping sales of CoD related hacks &amp; cheats as they don&rsquo;t want to get sued.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; CharlieIntel (@charlieINTEL) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/charlieINTEL\/status\/1478778647775490051?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 5, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\n<script src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" async><\/script>\n<\/p>\n<p>The announcement was posted on the company&#8217;s official Telegram just hours after the Activision versus EngineOwning lawsuit went public.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Read more:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/call-of-duty\/this-warzone-cheater-exposed-himself-in-4k\">This Warzone cheater exposed himself in 4K using EngineOwning hacks<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Accordingly, the company noted the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All COD related titles have been removed from the store and are no longer available to purchase.<\/li>\n<li>Any existing subscriptions will be allowed to die out over the next month as we don&#8217;t wish our customers to lose any money.<\/li>\n<li>We will no longer support any COD titles in tickets, messages, websites or live chat.<\/li>\n<li>We will remove any remaining COD branding or references from our products, advertisements and website content or images.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The company also advised that Cleaner and P00fer sales will continue to be available, as will accounts on the website since they &#8220;are standalone products which do not effect <em>(sic)<\/em>&nbsp;any of the games directly.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-figure\" contenteditable=\"false\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" contenteditable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-cf.ginx.tv\/imgcdn\/drXEH2wWhvDUVp-1JQo_5KxNz_iEOWH7xJfFhuxyuQU\/rs:fill:0:0:1\/g:ce\/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ2lueC50di91cGxvYWRzMi9XYXJ6b25lL3RlYy05LmpwZw\" alt=\"Cynical Software cheat provider has stopped providing support for Call of Duty games\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption contenteditable=\"false\">Cynical Software cheat provider has stopped providing support for Call of Duty games. (Picture: Activision)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Of course, this latest development sparks a sense of optimism for the future of the Call of Duty game franchise; however, some players are less impressed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;My question is why did it take so long for Activision actually to do something about it. It&#8217;s been happening since May 2020, but January 2022 is when they decide to take action. I mean, this is great news regardless. (Picture: Activision)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OldBenKenobi206\/status\/1478821760019550208\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Another user <\/a>notes that cheat providers operating in the US undertake a lot of risks and are &#8220;probably not incorporated&#8221;, meaning that &#8220;their owners could face personal liability for damages.&#8221; The user adds, &#8220;since they [are] in the US, it would be easy to enforce a judgement against them.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, this could explain why providers like Cynical Software have decided to revoke their support for Call of Duty games.
